Shaken, I stumbled from the bathroom.
I think I fainted. When I came to I
realized that, incrediblly, everyone
was huddled around Haillee, seeing if
she was hurt. When they noticed I had
regained conciousness and realized
the extent of my injuries there was
panic.

I was rushed to the doctor. I did my
best to be gracious to the others in
the waiting room, but I got the feeling
they didn't know who I was. I resisted
the urge to scream out "Don't you know
who I am?" a la some big movie star.

The vet was very nice. I explained what
happened and he immediately realized
that Haillee had been wrong, and was
possibly unbalanced. He fixed up the
gash on my lip, doing it very care-
fully so as not to leave a noticeable
scar. (I had explained to him earlier
that I may have a future in dogfood
commercials, because people are always
telling me how beautful I am. He said
a lot of the patients he sees are in
that situation. I got the feeling that
in my case he really thought it was
true though.)

After he had all the bandages on he
even gave me a lovely Elizabethean collar
(befitting a queen, he said) to wear, so
that there would be no doubt as to who
was in charge at home. He said to leave
it on for about 4 weeks, so that Haillee
would get in firmly in her mind that I
was in charge.

It's great, too. I'm able to do just about
everything I did before the "powder incident"
and they've even moved the furniture some so
I can walk around easily.
